Child safety information

Child car seats

There are many different child car seats on the market which can make it hard to decide which product is right for you.

The download section below includes a child car seat spreadsheet where you can compare all of the available car seat products on the market in Australia based on safety ratings, ease of use ratings, regular retail price (RRP), dimensions (width, height and depth), exit markers and whether they are isofix or have an easy adjust harness. You can compare the products based on age range or brand and they are listed on whether they are rear facing, forward facing (with a harness) or a booster seat (with a seatbelt). The car seats that were tested for their safety between 2012 and 2017 were based on different testing criteria and may no longer be available for sale so they are provided in a separate tab than those tested from 2018 to 2021. It is also important to know that child restraints that are more than 10 years old are not recommended to be used as they can wear and tear over time and become unsafe.

The safety and ease of use ratings have been taken from the NSW Government's Child Car Seats website.

Refer to the owner's manual for instructions on how to install your car seat or get help from an Authorised Restraint Fitting Station. Further information on child restraint safety and common errors when installing car seats is available at Kids Health.
